About Coach Austin
Austin Hershberger MA CSCS CHC
Austin Hershberger is a Davis, CA native and a complete basketball-freak. He graduated from Davis Senior High School in 2010, where he earned first team all-league honors while serving as Varsity captain. Austin continued his basketball-playing career in college; first at Mira Costa College in San Diego where he helped the Spartans win their first League Title in a decade, and then at Greenville University in southern Illinois where he earned First-Team Academic Honors in the Saint Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. From Greenville, he earned his bachelors degree in Sociology and Psychology, and then continued on to earn his Masters degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University in Irvine while serving as Strength Coach and Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Mira Costa College.
After working for the MCC Men’s program, Austin continued on to serve as head Junior Varsity basketball coach for La Costa Canyon HS in San Diego, and most recently served as the Strength and Conditioning coach and Varsity assistant coach for the Mission Vista HS boys basketball program in San Diego. He now serves as the Davis Senior High School Boys Basketball Strength and Conditioning coach. In addition to being a basketball-freak, Coach Austin is a business owner and a believer in all humans. He established his health and performance training company “Hershberger Health,” in 2017 in San Diego, and managed his own space before moving to Davis. During those four years, Coach Austin worked with human-athletes from ages 12 all the way to 83 years old. Austin is so excited to call Davis home again, and to call Performance 22 the home of Hershberger Health personal training and coaching. He specializes in youth and college sports performance training, adult strength training and health coaching, and senior strength training and habit building.
